HARTMAN JERSEY, GLOVES ON DISPLAY IN HALL OF FAME:
The goalkeeper jersey and gloves that Kevin Hartman wore to set a new Major League Soccer career record for saves have gone on display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Hartman recorded his record-setting 1,137th save in match against the Colorado Rapids on March 28, 2009 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado. The two items are in the MLS Display, the Museum’s largest individual exhibit, in a section that spotlights individual achievement in the league. To see a photo of the display, visit this page at soccerhall.org. “The jersey and gloves bring new color and timeliness to the MLS Display,” Jack Huckel, Hall of Fame Director of Museum and Archives, said. “We continually look for ways to capture the latest accomplishments of teams and players in the professional leagues and on the U.S. National Teams. Kevin’s donation of these items is another addition to the developing archive of the important memorabilia of soccer in America.” The MLS Display features uniforms from MLS teams along with the individual memorabilia of exceptional accomplishment, such as the red soccer shoes that Jaime Moreno used when he became the all-time MLS leading scorer; the uniform that Steve Ralston wore when he became MLS’ all-time assist leader; the ceremonial soccer shoes that adidas presented Ante Razov in celebration of his 100th MLS goal, only the 4th player in league history to accomplish that feat; and the sweatshirt that Coach Sigi Schmid wore the night he became MLS’ second coach to reach 100 victories.
