Food Drive as Part of Saturday’s Fun

Kansas City Wizards Partner with M&I Bank, Harvesters for Food Drive Prior to Saturday’s Match Against Los Angeles Galaxy

(September 9, 2008) – The Kansas City Wizards, M&I Bank and Harvesters Community Food Network have come together for a food drive prior to this Saturday’s Wizards game against the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Los Angeles roster features international superstar David Beckham, United States international Landon Donovan and former Wizards standout Chris Klein. Saturday’s food drive is part of Hunger Action Month, a Harvesters initiative that runs through the end of September. The game starts Saturday at 4 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium. Parking lots open at 1 p.m. CT, and tickets are still available for the match.
M&I Bank has joined the fight against hunger and will be hosting a pre-game tailgate from 2-4 p.m. near Gate D to collect non-perishable food items for Harvesters Community Food Network.  All donors who bring a minimum of three non-perishable food items will receive entrance into the M&I Bank tailgate and the first 300 in the tent will receive a special edition Wizards t-shirt. All donors who attend the M&I Bank tailgate can enter to win a seat upgrade, compliments of M&I Bank.
Eleven area high schools are currently participating in a Student Food Drive through Harvesters and have the opportunity to purchase tickets at the preferred customer rate of $25 for this weekend’s match. A portion of the proceeds from tickets purchased through this special offer will be donated toward the school’s effort in the drive.
At halftime of the game, a student from one of the participating schools will take part in a soccer kick competition on the field to win 250, 500 or 1,000 additional cans for his or her school’s donation total. M&I Bank will donate the additional cans.
