Wizards fall to Rapids

I didn’t see the game, or hear it(some weird techno like music on 1480AM, though I understand some could hear it…).  But it doesn’t sound like we played well.  Harrington got his first goal of the season.  We lost 2-1.

From the stats we did get off 10 shots, 5 of them on goal, which actually seems pretty good to me.  Offensively anyway.

Espinoza replaced Harrington in the game.  When he did, I don’t know if Lopez went to right mid or not.  Roger seems to only play on the left.  I don’t think I’d  have been happy to see Watson come on.  He was on for Hohlbein.  From reading Big Soccer it seems that Kurt Morsink should have made it into the game.  Pore was on for Wolff with just 4 minutes to go.

Killer for the Wizards were the early goals in each half.  Casey with both of them, 11th minute then 2nd minute of the second half.  A mental set?

We are now tied for 5th in the East.  DC won and moved up to 28 points.  KC are still tied with NY and TFC who play each other today, so we’ll either still be tied with one team or 1 point back (and in last overall) of both.  Still, actually not much out of playoff contention.

I’ll have some Player of the Game stuff later, when I talk to someone that saw the game.

We play FC Dallas at home next Saturday.

  1. Pez says:

Yeah, the 5 shots on goal sounds OK… until you realize that we had 4 of those at halftime.
(3 by Victorine & the other was Harrington’s goal… which was cleaning up the rebound after one of Sasha’s shots.)
