Brass to finish in 5th place

The KC Brass went into tonight’s game with the possibility of making tomorrow’s game very important.

Unfortunately for KC the St. Louis Lions scored two goals in the final six minutes, the game winner in th 90th, to defeat the Brass 3-2. The loss meant that KC will for sure finish in 5th place in the Heartland Division. They now trail St. Louis by 9 points.

(update) – Here’s a story in STLToday.com with a little write up on the game.  Looks like both of the Brass goals were off PK’s in the second half.

Tomorrow the Brass play their final game. They host Colorado. Colorado clinched second place tonight after drawing Des Moines 1-1. That means they’ll be going to the PDL playoffs.

So, the game against Colorado is no longer important, other than being soccer game, which is alwasys important. KC won’t be playing for a shot to leapfrog St. Louis and also a shot to knock Colorado out of the playoffs. Instead, for KC, it will be the end of a disappointing season and Colorado will either experiment or just try to make sure no one gets hurt for the PDL playoffs.
