KC Star: Garcia story by Grathoff

Pete Grathoff brings us a story about Nick and MeLinda Garcia in the aftermath of Nick’s trade to San Jose for the #1 pick in the MLS SuperDraft.

This from MeLinda: “In the first two days, I cried, then I was so excited,” MeLinda said. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this place is amazing, I can’t wait to get out there and see what it’s like.’ Then I was angry a couple of days later.

Nick had a charity event right after he was traded: Nick went ahead with the event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. … included a party at the home of … Cliff Illig.

“There was a little bit of awkward silence at the beginning of the night,” Nick said, “but it was what it was and we got on with the night. It was fine after that.”

Garcia said Illig told him the Wizards eventually would like to bring Garcia back at some point, but he’s just 28 years old and could play for another decade.

Nick – Good luck to you in San Jose.  Who knows, maybe you will be back in Wizard’s Blue some day.

It would be great to see Nick back in a couple years. I wish him well wherever he goes as long as he is not playing against us.
