MLS sells international TV rights to MP & Silva If SUM/ESPN are selling of the international rights then it seems the league is moving in the right economic direction; possibly better bargaining position for TV contracts domestically.

I know most saw this already.  The cancellation of the Supplemental Draft. But I thought it worth it to point out again.  KC had several supplemental picks that are now gone.  It’s a logical move after the scrapping of the Reserve League and reduction of roster spots.  Too bad though as I think most saw the Reserve League as something good for MLS.

PASL: KC Kings win 7-1 over Piasa FC

The Kings defensive prowess shows in another shutdown of Piasa FC.  This time the score was 7-1.

Kansas City Kings

I don’t have all the details but the KC Kings defeated Fuerza Latina 18-1 on Saturday.  I do know that Mirsad Dzilic had 3 goals and 2 assists and was named the man of the match.  Nice job KC!

The Springfield (MO) Demize won 7-5 over Piasa FC.   The Springfield (IL) Spirits have yet to play.  Their first game is against KC on January 3rd.

The Kings next game this Saturday(20th) on the road against Piasa FC.

Hundreds of Wizards fans attended Saturday’s Wizards Wonderland select-a-seat event at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Santa Claus and Dynamo the Dragon were on hand to pose for photos with kids, while new season ticket holders picked out their 2009 seat locations. Fans were also able to purchase discounted Wizards merchandise and player-worn gear. Proceeds from the sale of all player-worn merchandise goes directly to the Kansas City Soccer Foundation.

Kansas City Wizards to Hold 2nd Annual Open Tryouts March 7-8, 2009
 
The Kansas City Wizards will hold its second-annual open tryouts March 7-8, 2009 in Kansas City. The Wizards held an open tryout in 2008 for the first time since their inaugural 1996 season, with the event drawing over 200 players from 15 different countries. Two players eventually signed for Kansas City, midfielders Kevin Souter and Nelson Pizarro. Both went on to play in MLS matches for the Wizards in 2008, and Souter started the final four games of the regular season and both MLS Cup Playoff matches for Kansas City. The tryout costs $200, and players can sign up through www.kcwizards.com/opentryout.  
 
Participants will take part in matches Saturday, with the top players called back for Sunday’s session. Finalists will then get the opportunity to tryout with the Wizards first team in March with the chance of securing a contract. Final tryout location and times will be provided to each participant closer to the event.
